Or this one.

"still haven't started my taxes lol"

Why most planners fail ADHD brains

The problem isn't you.
It's the planner.

We analyzed hundreds of reviews from ADHD planner users to find the two patterns that cause abandonment — and designed FocusReset around eliminating both.

Pattern 01 · Setup Paralysis

"I spent 3 hours setting it up and never used it."

Planners with hundreds of templates cause immediate decision fatigue. ADHD brains freeze before the first task is written — not from laziness, but from genuine neurological overload.

FocusReset approach

One page. Open it and start writing. No tutorials, no setup wizard, no decisions before you plan.

Pattern 02 · Dated Page Guilt

"Three blank weeks staring at me. I just closed it and never came back."

Pre-dated planners turn every skipped day into visual evidence of failure. The longer the gap, the harder it is to open the planner again — until eventually, it disappears into a drawer forever.

FocusReset approach

FocusReset is completely undated. Open it after three weeks and it looks exactly the same as day one. Write in today's day, and it's a fresh start — no history, no reckoning, no guilt.

The neuroscience behind it

Built around how ADHD
brains actually get motivated

Traditional planners assume motivation comes from importance and deadlines. ADHD neuroscience says otherwise.

Psychiatrist Dr. William Dodson identified that ADHD brains run on an interest-based nervous system — not an importance-based one. His original framework (ICNU) and the widely-used INCUP variant both describe the same neurological truth: motivation comes from the right trigger, not willpower.

"The ADHD nervous system is not broken — it runs on a completely different set of rules. It is activated by interest, novelty, challenge, urgency, and passion. Not by importance."
— Paraphrased from Dr. William Dodson, M.D., ADDitude Magazine

FocusReset is designed with these neurological principles in mind — a clean, low-friction layout, a daily focus anchor, and an INCUP reference sheet for moments when your brain needs a nudge.

I

Interest

Pair boring tasks with something genuinely interesting — music, environment, a podcast you love.

N

Novelty

Change your physical setup. A new location or a different approach makes the brain re-engage.

C

Challenge

Gamify it. "Can I draft these notes in 15 minutes?" turns a chore into a race.

U

Urgency

Create soft deadlines. A visible timer or an accountability partner activates focus.

P

Passion

Connect the task to your identity and values. Why does this matter to you specifically?

Questions

Is this an app?

No — FocusReset is a PDF planner. But once you open it in a note-taking app like GoodNotes, Notability, or Xodo, it behaves like one: tappable navigation, fillable fields, no internet needed.

What devices does it work on?

Any tablet or device that supports PDF annotation apps. iPad with GoodNotes or Notability is the sweet spot — but it also works on Android tablets, Windows Surface, and Mac.

Do I need a specific app?

GoodNotes 5 or 6, Notability, Xodo, Noteshelf, or Samsung Notes all work well. Most of these are free or low-cost. We'll include a short setup guide on purchase.

Why is it undated?

Because dated planners punish skipped days. FocusReset has no January 3rd staring at you accusingly. You start fresh whenever you're ready — today, next week, whenever.

Is this a subscription?

No. Buy once, yours forever. No renewals, no paywalls, no upsells. When you buy FocusReset, you own it.

When does it launch?

We're putting the finishing touches on it now. Join the waitlist and you'll hear first — at the early access price of $9 instead of $24.
